The afternoon of Friday 25th November saw merchants, manufacturers, distributors and customers gather together at the prestigious Hilton Park Lane in London for the 15th annual BMN Awards, celebrating excellence across the merchant sector.
Some 700 key industry figures were in attendance at the glittering event, hosted by much loved comedian Dara O’Briain, to witness the presentation of 19 sought after awards in recognition of outstanding achievement.
From local, family run building supplies businesses to large scale UK wide Merchant companies, the Builders Merchants Awards seeks to recognise and reward the best examples of dedication, innovation and customer service within the industry in categories such as ‘Training Initiative of the Year’, ‘Showroom of the Year’ and ‘Independent Merchant of the Year’.
As an independent company with a passionate drive to support local businesses, Encon Insulation was proud to sponsor the ‘Community Initiative’ Award, recognising the builders’ merchant who has clearly identified a need to encourage greater communication and cooperation within their community.’
Presenting the award, Merchant Development Director Mike Beard said, ‘It’s always a pleasure to attend the BMN awards, an event which truly celebrates the very best in our industry, and it’s been a particular privilege this year for Encon to Sponsor the Community Initiative Award, recognising a company which has gone the extra mile to give back to their local area.”
The award was presented to Dave Berry of C&W Berry, an incredibly deserving winner. The Lancashire based Builders Merchant demonstrated their commitment to the local community during the 2015 Boxing Day floods. As rivers burst their banks and calls for help came thick and fast, branch staff sacrificed their holiday period to muck in, distributing free-of-charge materials to prevent rising waters damaging local homes and businesses.
The quick thinking of Dave Berry and his team, and tireless efforts filling sandbags and delivering them across the local area, prevented widespread damage to surrounding homes and residential care centres.
Speaking of C&W Berry’s award submission and subsequent win, Mike commented, “I am so pleased for Dave Berry and his team. The commitment and kindness they showed their local residents during last years’ devastating floods truly demonstrates what can be achieved when businesses step up to help their community.”
