BMF Members’ Day 2018

The BMF’s Annual Members’ Conference and Awards, which were held on the 26th and 27th September, provided an excellent opportunity to recognise merchants who ‘go the extra mile’ in their commitment to supporting their teams. The event was hosted at the fantastic venue of St George’s Park, Burton-upon-Trent – the home of England’s 28 National Football Teams.

Encon were once again delighted to be the headline sponsor for the BMF Members’ Day and will be continuing to support the BMF. For over 35 years, Encon has been the UK’s Distributor of Choice for insulation, interior systems, roofing and fire protection. In recent years, our involvement with merchants has developed immeasurably with the introduction of the Encon Choice initiative, bringing new levels of service and support specifically for independent merchants.

This year’s theme was ‘The Future Belongs to The Bold’, acknowledging the revolutionary change the industry is facing, with the businesses that have the imagination and conviction to be bold, being the ones to grab customer’s attention.

The two day event involved the Ultimate FA Experience, golf competition, conference and exhibition which was attended by a mixture of builders merchants, suppliers and industry service providers with over 300 delegates on the day. The conference was hosted by Ray Stubbs, one of the best known voices in football, and there were other inspirational and interesting speakers throughout the event.

At the Members Day Conference, the BMF unveiled its strategy for the next three years, promising to help members to build excellence within every aspect of business. By 2020, the BMF aims to be regarded as the leading trade association in the building materials industry for merchants and suppliers. The strategy was finalised following research with members to find out what matters most to them. The result will see the BMF extend its widely respected training and business services and recharge its youth recruitment campaign to help the Federation’s diverse membership gain, and retain, business advantage at a time when the challenges facing the industry have never been greater.

Mike Beard addressed delegates during the opening of the conference and represented Encon Insulation during the Members Conference and Awards, along with Steve Clarke – National Sales Director, Ben Moth – Key Account Manager – South West, Lydia Sharples – Group Marketing & Communications Director and Beth Collins – Marketing Executive.

After the conference and exhibition guests were welcomed to the evening awards dinner. There were nine awards up for grabs and Encon were shortlisted for two awards, Supplier Engagement of the year and Ben Moth, Key Account Manager, South West was shortlisted for the Young Supplier Achiever award. We are delighted to be the winners of the ‘Supplier Engagement of the year’ award!
